Israel’s total diamond exports dip by 45%

During July 2009, Israeli’s total diamond exports decreased by 45 percent to $578 million. Exports of polished diamonds decreased by 52 percent to $399 million, reports say. Rough diamond exports plunged 43 percent to $179.

Spanning through the months of January – July, the country’s total diamonds exports declined by 58 percent to $3 billion, in which, polished exports dipped by 57 percent to $2 billion, and rough exports were down by 60 percent to $994 million. In this period, total diamond imports dipped by 63 percent to $2.2 billion.

During July, total diamond imports amounted to $415 million, falling by 53 percent.
