Israel’s polished diamond exports up 6% in H1'2014

At the close of six months of 2014, polished diamond trade for Israel rose 6 percent (on y-o-y basis) to US$3,552,789,481, reports say. But this culminated into a 6.7 percent drop (on y-o-y basis) in volume to 1,334,693 carats, reports say. Also, imports of polished diamonds rose 3 percent (on y-o-y basis) in value to US$2.2 billion, and 10 percent drop in volume to around 1.2 million carats.

In this period the value of rough diamond imports increased 0.9 percent to US$2,053,828,807, but the volumes dropped 5.7 percent to 5,205,721.25. Exports of rough diamonds surged 6 percent to US$1.75 billion and by 11.6 percent in volume terms to 6.94 million carats, reports add.
