'Glimpz-16 ‘Exhibition was an important event for the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery, Mumbai. Every year the 3 Year Diploma Course culminates with a Graduating Project during which the students create collections of jewellery on particular themes.

This year the students of Diploma Bach 10 were asked to work on the Theme “Innovate” where they were inspired to create jewellery with unusual mechanisms and concepts.

Innovation is the creation and transformation of new knowledge into new products that meet market needs. As such, innovation creates new businesses and is the fundamental source of growth in business and industry.

People today look forwards for new designs and trends in jewellery not limiting their search on the basis of budget or materials used. Hence the students were asked to create jewellery which is innovative.

The Exhibition was inaugurated by Ishu Datwani – Founder Anmol Jewellers, along with Kirit Bhansali- Chairman IIGJ, Praveenshankar Pandya – Chairman, Hemant Shah – Alcraftist, Biren Vaidya – Managing Director, Rose Group of Companies, Sanjay Kothari – Director IIGJ Mumbai, Mrs. Namita Pandya – Director IIGJ Mumbai, Nirmal Kumar Barmecha – Director IIGJ Mumbai, Raj Parikh – Director IIGJ Mumbai.

After the inauguration Ishu Datwani personally visited and interacted with every passing out student giving them a word of encouragement to stand tall in their career. He not only took keen interest in judging the students work but also gave them a fruitful feedback which would add to their knowledge for their upcoming career. After seeing the efforts put in by diploma batch 10 he mentioned that he was very happy to see the skills gained by the students during this 3 years program.

Praveenshankar Pandya encouraged the students by giving them words of encouragement to stand tall in their career ahead. Biren Baidya appreciated the work done by the students and mentioned that he was impressed by the unique ideas presented by the students.

These students had been through their internship of six months in the industrial units, and they had been well-trained to take up the challenges of the industry in their future careers. They were also fully aware that their skills reflected in their jewellery collections would be critically judged by the visitors, who would be mostly related to the jewellery industry.
