India’s gem and jewellery exports in July 2016 rose 4.89 percent to US$ 3.08 billion, from US$ 2.99 billion in July 2015. Its cut and polished diamond exports amounted to US$ 1.652 billion, while last year in July the said exports were worth US$ 1.638 billion, marking an almost flat performance for the country, reports say.
Exports of gold jewellery (studded and plain) increased 7.94 percent on y-o-y basis, to US$ 531.01 million, as per reports.
The country’s silver jewellery exports stood almost flat at US$ 338.58 million in the said month, while that of colored gemstones was US$ 20.14 million, also reaching a flat performance in comparison to July 2015, reports add.
