Indian Pavilion at BaselWorld 2014 to include 23 Indian Export Houses

The Indian participation at the forthcoming 15th BaselWorld, (BaselWorld 2014) will see the crème de la crème of select 23 Indian Export Houses catering to the European market. The India Pavilion will be hosted by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC) and will be spread over 300 sq. meters.

The ‘India Pavilion’ this year focuses on providing buyers complete product offering with exhibitors comprising of leading exporters and manufacturers of loose diamonds, gemstones and jewellery. With the focus on greater and better quality, exhibitors will present their best collections that are at par or leading in terms of international standards for gems and jewellery. The show is expected to see over 150,000 visitors/buyers from across the globe. New products, trends and innovation in their portfolios will be offered by the Indian contingent. An added attraction this year would be ‘India Palace’ at Hall 2.2 showcasing coveted jewellery by Indian participants.

Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC said, “It is indeed a matter of great pride for the Indian contingent which has now had a long association with the event, to be a significant part of the show”. He further added, “GJEPC has been invited to once again host the ‘India Pavilion’ which is one of the most prestigious locations at the Basel World and a definitive indication of India’s increasing significance as an important manufacturing hub. At USD33 bn exports to key European markets, such as UK, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany etc. we expect this trend to undergo a rapid progressive movement this year.”

With the important place Basel World 2014 holds as a watch and jewellery B2B event, it is also a gateway for India to reach out to the European market, which is one of the most important export markets for India.
