Indian Jeweller Released Amidst Fanfare

The Indian Jeweller, a new magazine from the publishers of the Diamond World magazine was launched with great fanfare in the presence of Ashok Minawala, former chairman, GJF, and other industry dignitaries, members of trade organizations, hi-profile guests and national and international media at the GJF Nite held during the IIJS 2010 on August 20th.

Speaking at the function, Pulisher & Editor of the magazine Alok Kala said, “We felt there is no magazine for the high fashion jewellery industry which can impart information and knowledge to its designers, manufacturers, retailers and marketers. And so was born Indian Jeweller which is today in your hands.”

In the year 1963, the late Shri Vidya Vinodji Kala started Asia’s first international Magazine from India - Journal of Gem Industry - and in 1973 he started Diamond World after seeing India’s progress in the diamond industry. Today, the company has under its umbrella, several annual publications: Diamond Handbook of India, Diamond Handbook of Surat and Mumbai Diamond Telephone directory. Apart from this it also operates a diamond trading portal www.diamondworld.net where the inventory of diamond dealers across the world is uploaded and international news is available as well. A weekly e-news letter is also mailed to over 30,000 members of the gems and jewellery industry worldwide.

The Indian jewellery industry has made spectacular growth in last few decades. Its domestic consumption and manufacturing has increased manifold. There was a crying need for an effective and independent medium to highlight India’s strides and struggles in the jewellery sector. And hence, the publishers decided to launch the Indian Jeweller -- as a purveyor of information and a source of knowledge for this extremely dynamic industry. And above all to be the Face of the Indian jewellery industry, as the publishers say.
