Indian Diamond Institute holds its 35th Convocation-cum-Institute’s Foundation Day

Beginning with the traditional lighting of the lamp and prayer, the Indian Diamond Institute (IDI) organised its 35th Convocation-cum-Institute’s Foundation Day with a gathering including Shri Vipul Shah, Chairman, The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council as the Chief Guest, Shri Chandrakant Sanghavi, Regional Chairman, Gujarat Region, GJEPC, Surat, Shri Aagam Sanghavi, Chairman, IDI, Shri Samir Joshi, Executive Director-Acting and Shri Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC were the persons who occupied the seats on the Dais. The event was also attended by leading personalities from the diamond and jewellery industry.

Shri Joshi welcomed the gathering and thanked Shri Vipul Shah for his presence. Shri Aagam Sanghavi presented a bouquet and memento to Shri Vipul Shah.

Shri Joshi congratulated the 170 graduating students and informed the gathering that this event also marks the first time for the institute to organize a Career Fair for the graduated students. The Career fair was organised with the help of seven to eight renowned Jewellery companies, with almost 110 vacancies available. In his speech he also appreciated the constant support provided by Shri Aagam Sanghavi to the institute to take a quantum leap in institutional activities and thanked him for his encouragement in all the endeavors undertaken by the institute.

Shri Joshi also said that institute is proud of its students with an advise to take each challenge, stressing on the qualities of integrity, passion to enter into the gem and jewellery industry.

Shri Aagam Sanghavi, the Chairman of IDI congratulated Executive Director-Acting, Shri Joshi and his team for having successfully completed 34 years and on entering into the 35th year. He also congratulated all the successful students who have excelled in their subjects. Shri Aagam, in his speech mentioned today that Gems & Jewellery industry is now looking towards the young talent with fresh and innovative ideas. He said that, IDI, in its 35 years of successful journey, it has trained more than 27,000 students and rendering a yeomen services to the G&J trade. He also mentioned that the students must take advantage of the opportunity at hand. Lastly, he once again thanked Shri Vipul Shah, Shri S. Ray for remaining present at this august occasion.

Shri Vipul Shah congratulated IDI for hosting this event. He said that it is really a matter of pride for us that IDI is working in the service of gem and jewellery trade for last 34 years. He mentioned that establishing IDI was conceptualized in 1978 looking into the need of the trade, jointly by GJEPC and Government of India. He informed that IDI has grown as the ANCHOR INSTITUTE only because it is services in preparing trained workforce for the gem and jewellery industry since last 34 years, and is also the pride of Surat – the hub of diamonds and cutting and polishing in India and the world. He expressed pride in handing over the gold medals and chairman’s medals to the passed out students.
