At the beginning of March 2023 Museum Kolding and the National Museum in New Delhi will open the joint exhibition, “Silver treasures from Denmark and India.” Museum Kolding has been invited to exhibit the best of the museum's silver collection at the National Museum of Cultural History in New Delhi in the spring of 2023. The collaboration and exhibition mark the recently agreed cultural development programme between Denmark and India for the years 2023 to 2026.

The exhibition "Silver treasures from Denmark and India," will be an exhibition focusing on similarities and differences in Danish and Indian silversmithing, an exhibition where both museums showcase the best silver objects from their collections.

The collaboration between the National Museum in New Delhi and Museum Kolding on the silver exhibition was marked by the signing/exchange of an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) during an official programme in New Delhi on November 16, 2022.

I am very happy to note that Museum Kolding and National Museum in New Delhi will together open silver exhibition, ‘’Silver treasures from Denmark and India’’ at the beginning of March 2023. The exhibition will focus upon similarities and differences in Danish and Indian silversmithing, where both museums will showcase the best silver objects from their collections. We are looking forward to how the exhibition will be perceived by Indian audiences’’, said H.E. Freddy Svane, Danish Ambassador to India.

I am very excited that Museum Kolding is invited to be part of the cultural exchange programme between India and Denmark. We are delighted to be working with the National Museum in New Delhi and look forward to showcasing the best of the museum's silver collection and we are of course very excited about how our Danish silver will be received by the Indian public. Together with the Indian curator, we have put together an exhibition that shows the best of the museum's collection and the Gangsted Foundation's collection, and that focuses on the diversity of Danish and Indian silver traditions,” said Rune Lundberg, Director of Museum Kolding.

Denmark's finest silver works will be on display at the National Museum in New Delhi. Visitors will be able to see Indian and Danish silver objects. Museum Kolding will display some of its finest silver works at the National Museum in New Delhi. The objects in the museum's collection are some of Denmark's finest silver works. The collection ranges widely from the formal 18th-century corpus silver to the Gangsted Foundation Collection, to silver objects from the transition between traditional silver to avant-garde and modern silver. The latter became the beginning of the world-famous concept of Danish Design. A transition that begins around 1900 in the workshop of the silversmith and goldsmith Holger Kyster in Kolding, where he produces one fantastic silver work after another, in close collaboration with the great Danish architect and designer Thorvald Bindesbøll, and also with the artist Svend Hammershøi

Museum Kolding has one of the country's largest and finest collections of Danish silver. The collection contains countless objects from all over Denmark and spans from the Renaissance up to the present day, with the best of the country's silversmiths constantly represented in the collection.
