The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the apex body of the gem & jewellery industry in India, in its effort to cater to the rapidly emerging Middle East Gems & Jewellery market is organizing India Pavilion at this year's Vicenzaoro Dubai (VOD) scheduled from April 14 to April 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai. After the successful association with Vicenzaoro Dubai in 2015, GJEPC is all set to showcase India’s scintillating collections in its 2nd edition too.

GJEPC Chairman Praveenshankar Pandya says, “India’s central role as the sourcing center for diamonds and precious stones jewellery is renowned world-wide. For years traders and visitors to India have enjoyed the craftsmanship, quality, design and cost efficiency – we are happy to bring the source to Dubai - the most promising destination for the gemstones and jewellery trade in recent times. For India, ME is a leading export destination when it comes to Gems and Jewellery with 31% of India’s Gem & Jewellery Exports targeted to the region. It is thus imperative to explore opportunities to nurture international trade relations, at VOD the most apt gateway to the ME and the world. Fiera di Vicenza and Dubai World Trade Centre are two leading organizations that are committed to the growth of the gems and jewellery industry which is in line with the GJEPC's vision. This association will help in further improving and strengthening the trade in the Middle East, an important gem & jewellery destination for India.”

The India Pavilion showcases 66 leading Indian manufacturers & retailers spread across 90 booths, who exhibit a vast array of diamonds, gems & jewellery developed especially for the visitors of the VoD show.  The Products displayed at the Pavillion offer a wide variety of options in Pret, Couture and Bridal wear. For the first time GJEPC displays an India Product Gallery, that is a true revelation of India’s Craftsmanship and Design sensibility. Exclusive, one of the kind pieces from India form a selection at the Gallery.

India is the largest diamond manufacturer in the world with a 65% share of the world polished market by value, 85% in terms of caratage, and a stupendous 92% in terms of number of pieces. Today, fourteen out of 15 diamonds set in jewellery worldwide are processed in India. India is also the fastest growing jewellery exporter in the world, averaging a growth of nearly 15-20 per cent each year over the last decade. The country is a leading source of a spectrum of coloured gemstones, moving from its traditional concentration of Emeralds, and later Tanzanite, to today offering the world a dazzling array of choice in terms of color and quality.

Design sensibilities in Jewellery, Craftsmanship passed through generations coupled with Cost efficacy, makes INDIA the most coveted source for quality Gems & Jewellery the World over. The recent establishment of India Diamond Trading Centre (IDTC) in Mumbai, facilitates diamond mining companies for direct display of Roughs through Special viewing facilities at the center in BDB, Mumbai.

India’s leading exporting destinations include ME, USA and Hong Kong apart from emerging markets of S.E. Asia and Russia. In 2015, India's gross exports of gem and jewellery accounted for US$ 38.44 billion. Total gross exports to Middle East for 2015 accounted for US$12.32 billion (31% of the total G&J exports from the country) in which exports of diamonds stood at US$ 1792.52 million; Gold jewellery exports were staggering US$ 3996.40 million whereas Exports of coloured gem stones accounted for US$ 21.88 million, and Silver Jewellery stood at US$ 637.70 million. GJEPC in its continuous endeavor to promote Indian Gem & Jewellery exports organizes various trade shows and also participates in other international shows.
