This year there was lesser footfall but the exhibitors received quality customers. The show was held in July instead of August which has helped the jewellers with ample time to complete the orders in time for the upcoming festive season. While gold and gold jewellery received good response, the diamond section got very slow response. Overall, there was a sentiment of contentment amongst the exhibitors. Bharat Mehta, Laxmi Jewellery Export Pvt Ltd says, “Last year’s IIJS show was much better than this year. This year the show is very slow as it began early as compared to last many years. July is not the right month to hold this show as the session period starts from September first week. The real business happened in first two days, where the real buyers came and booked their orders. Overall, this show generally helps boost the market sentiment. But, it definitely was slow this year.”
With every passing year, the show is only getting better. However, some of exhibitors and visitors felt that allow orders and delivery, better mobile communication, better process for on-spot registration; car pick and drop areas for the visitors and of course scheduling of the show during second or third week of August (Closer to bridal season) will make it the best.
