IGI opens laboratory in Hyderabad

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) opened its laboratory at Panjagutta in Hyderabad, the Indian city of pearls and home to the famous Golconda diamond mines. Leading market players and luminaries from the jewelry industry gathered at the opening event.

Understanding the tremendous untapped potential of the Hyderabad jewelry market, IGI observed the need to open a full fledged grading laboratory and education services in Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, Tehmasp Printer, Managing Director – International Gemological Institute - India said: “We believe Hyderabad is emerging as one of the key diamond markets. IGI Mobile labs will be made available to our clients across Andhra Pradesh for certifying their jewellery”.

IGI has been working closely with the retailers in Andhra Pradesh and organized a first of its kind, Buyer Seller Meet – the IGI D Show, in November 2012 which was well received by the participants and the next strategic step that followed was the certification laboratory in Hyderabad, closer to the retailers in Andhra Pradesh. IGI believes Hyderabad is seeing increasing demand in the local market for gold and diamond jewelry. IGI will also provide education services and offer courses in Polished Diamond Grading, Jewelry Designing and other corporate programs for the Andhra Pradesh region. The first course in Hyderabad will be held on between April 15- April 26 213 on Polished Diamond Grading at IGI Hyderabad.
