IGI launches courses in China

China has been added as yet another centre for International Gemological Institute (IGI) grading and diamond courses. The IGI is doing so along with the National Gem Testing Center (NGTC), China’s state-level organisation for gemstone and jewellery testing.

IGI Chief Executive Officer for the Asia Pacific region - Marc Brauner said, “We are confident our joint agreement will greatly contribute to the development of all aspects of the diamond industry in mainland China, and will significantly broaden the skills and knowledge base of Chinese diamond professionals.”

This association would kick start with a 10-day IGI Rough Diamond Course, slated to commence in early December, in Shenzhen. The course would deliver expert experience and offer the graduates an internally recognised diploma. IGI currently includes a staff of over 500 graduate gemologists, accredited appraisers and professional office personnel. As for the number of reports, IGI issues more than one million every year.
