IGI School of Gemology awards diplomas to graduation students in Chennai

Fifteen students graduating from the “Polished Diamond Grading Program” by International Gemological Institute's (IGI) School of Gemology, were felicitated at a graduation ceremony on September 8 at IGI’s new premises in Prashanth Towers, Chennai.

Diplomas issued by IGI headquarters in Antwerp, Belgium were handed to the students by guest of honor, Prashanth Thiagrajan, a popular Tollywood film personality.

The IGI Polished Diamond Grading Course is a concise, practical grading program, informing on the intricacies of diamond grading, and empowering students to pursue independent future careers. Some of the topics covered include the 4Cs, diamond treatments, synthetics and pricing.

IGI has been operational in Prashanth Towers as a laboratory since May 2010 and recently initiated its educational facility - IGI School of Gemology in the same premises. The School will offer IGI’s full spectrum of educational courses: Polished Diamond Grading, Polished Diamond Graduate, Jewelry Design Program, Colored Stone Program and Graduate Gemmologist, among others- all internationally recognized education, with the syllabus and diploma/degree issued by IGI.

Ramit Kapur, the general manager of IGI, said, "During the last 13 years, IGI education has been an active contributor to the industry, providing talented gemmologists, graders, designers and professional experts. We will develop more programs to serve the industry in modern, rapidly-evolving times, in order to stay ahead of the latest developments in the global diamond and jewelry industry”. IGI has been organizing professional grading courses across India since 1999 and trained over 8,900 students on par with international standards.
