The huge numbers indicate the importance of the US market to Israel’s diamond industry
IDI’s presence at JCK Las Vegas almost doubles this year
The Israel diamond industry participation at JCK Las Vegas show this year is expected to be almost double that of last year, with around 100 companies exhibiting this May. The Israel Diamond Pavilion at the show has been expanded this year to comprise 47 exhibitors, while another 50 Israeli diamond companies will be exhibiting at other locations throughout the show, according to the Israel Diamond Institute (IDI).

JCK Las Vegas is slated from May 30 to June 2.

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar noted that the significant participation underscores the importance of the U.S. market for Israel’s Diamond Industry. Last year Israel exported close to 40 percent of its net polished diamond exports worth $6.2 billion to the American market, a total of $2.3 billion.

The IDI information booth will be located at the centre of the Israel Diamond Pavilion and will feature the “Find Your Diamond” system, which enables buyers to search the inventory of all Israeli exhibitors at the show. IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said, “We are pleased to see that the U.S. market is showing recovery and that the demand for diamonds is growing. Since we supply almost half of all diamonds sold in the United States this is good news for the Israeli Diamond Industry. We are expecting this to be a very good show,” he said.

Managing Director Eli Avidar added that the IDI is also ‘initiating other avenues to reach out to the U.S. market,’ and noted that this could soon see Israel be ‘the major supplier of diamonds to the U.S. market.’
