With 80 diamond companies, including some first time participants, the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) is hosting the largest pavilion at the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair. The Fair is slated from June 21 – 26, 2012.

Apart from the companies exhibiting at the pavilion, there will be about 20 Israeli companies exhibiting throughout the show. This is the second time that IDI is organizing a national pavilion at this show and the pavilion this year has grown from 60 companies last year to 80 companies. This increased participation underlines the importance that the Israeli Diamond Industry attributes to the event and to Hong Kong, as a vital and growing diamond market.

Asia makes up 35 percent of Israel polished diamond exports and net polished diamond exports to Hong Kong in 20111 were at $1.9 billion. IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said “We believe in the economic future of this region and the growth in demand for diamonds and diamond jewelry here.” IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said “We are focusing much of our marketing efforts on Asia – especially Hong Kong. We participate in three trade shows in Hong Kong throughout the year, and at every show we have more and more Israeli exhibitors. Although we have expanded the size of our pavilions demand is so great that we have a waiting list for some of the shows,” Avidar added. He also added that IDI’s Chinese-language portal site has become an important vehicle for facilitating direct contacts between these countries.

An online mini-site is being provided on the IDI portal site, and offers contact details of the Israeli exhibitors at the show and otherwise. It also gives a virtual view of the pavilion at the show.
