IDI presents its 2011 strategic campaign at BaselWorld2011

‘Welcome to Israel’ - Israeli Diamond Industry’s new strategic campaign for 2011, was launched at its annual press lunch during BaselWorld 2011. IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar that the campaign would define the theme for all marketing efforts in Israel and abroad, which mainly hints at an openness towards and by this industry.

Avidar further introduced IDI’s future plans - that of opening a new office in the Bharat Diamond Bourse in Mumbai, expanding its participation in trade shows, especially in India and Hong Kong, and establishing a rough diamond sourcing group in Israel.

At the event, Reuven Kuvent, outgoing CEO of Dun & Bradstreet Israel and guest speaker on the occasion spoke of the accelerated growth of Asian economies, and envisioned that “By 2030 the Chinese economy will be the largest in the world, the U.S. will be second and India will have the third largest economy.” Although the U.S. might seem less attractive now, he called on the industry to cultivate each of these markets for the future

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said that most of Israel’s leading diamond companies’ exports jumped by over 50 percent in 2010, and were on almost reaching pre-crisis export levels.

Avidar also launched a new iPhone application for the diamond industry, which allows up-to-date news and information, ease of conducting business from anywhere, a directory of Israeli diamond companies, banks and gemological labs, and enables companies to upload their diamond requirements via the Israel Diamond Institute portal, and for dealers to contact them. The application which works on iPads as well, was developed by the IDI portal.

The lunch took place at the Basel Convention Center, in the Osaka – Samarkand Congress Room.
