IDI prepares record participation for September HK Jewellery & Gem Fair

The Israeli Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) is preparing its largest participation ever at a trade show, for the forthcoming September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair this year, with 71 companies including 11 first time participants to occupy the Israel Diamond Pavilion at the show. A set of 20 Israeli diamond companies will exhibit at other locations in the show.

The record participation follows the growing importance of Asian markets in the global diamond trade map and also for Israeli companies. Hong Kong is Israel’s second largest market for polished diamonds representing 26 percent of total polished diamond exports in 2009. IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said “Now more than ever we see these markets as the direction of the future for Israeli diamond companies.”

The Israel Diamond Pavilion will be located at the Asia World Expo – the event’s section for loose diamonds and gemstone. An online mini-site, which can be accessed through the IDI portal site at http://www.israelidiamond.co.il/Exhibition/index.aspx?id=16&lang=en enables buyers to visit the pavilion virtually learn about the exhibiting Israeli companies., prior to the show.

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar said“Our multilevel support includes marketing initiatives, trade shows and outreach to new and developing markets in Asia, such as China and India. he further added that “China and India are acting as growth vehicles for the Israeli Diamond Industry, and we haven’t yet begun to explore the full potential of those two giants.” The September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair is slated between September 14 – 20, 2010.
