The Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) having declared 2008, as the "Year of India", and has inched its way into exploring business opportunities in India at the ongoing India International Jewelry Show. And to mark the significance of this, the Ambassador of Israel in India Mark Sofer and the Consul General Orna Sagiv are slated to visit the show.

This is the first time that the Israeli industry is participating in the show. The Israeli Diamond Industry Pavilion, organised by IDI, is expected to house 24 leading Israeli diamond manufacturers and exporters, with exhibits of loose diamonds and diamond jewellery.

IDI Chairman and President of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA) Moti Ganz said: " Indians traditionally have designed, created and consumed diamond and gem-studded jewelry. We are very excited to participate in this show and look forward to creating mutually beneficial business ties with the Indian diamond industry. " The IDI has also created a booth within the Nation pavilion, to deliver information about itself and trade in Israel.

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar asserts, " From our meetings with Indian diamond and jewelry merchants we know that there is a great deal of interest in the Israeli goods. We complement the Indian industry, rather than compete with it and this can be beneficial to both sides. We hope to enhance our ties with the Indian industry and make new connections."
