The slow markets did not deter the opening day participation
ICA Show kicks off in Dubai

Dubai hosted the first ever ICA International Gem Show, marking the foray of the trade events for the coloured gemstone industry in Gulf and Middle East. The show hosted a huge count of visitors from across the globe, although the largest numbers on opening day were hailed from the UAE, Lebanon, Oman and Saudi Arabia as well as from Germany, Italy, India, Thailand and the US. The inaugural day was held in presence of International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) President Andrew Cody and Gaiti Rabbani, Executive Director, Colored Stones and Pearls, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).

The event hosted over 100 leading gemstone suppliers of the world exhibiting their products. The product showcase includes gemstones, fine jewellery, loose diamonds and pearls from 20 countries, including Australia, Brazil, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Hong Kong, India.

“In spite the uncertainty in the world's financial markets, we had an excellent turn out yesterday. Coloured gemstones are in high demand and I am confident we will see increased demand going forward as major fashion houses and designers around the world focus on colour," said ICA President Andrew Cody.

Organised by the ICA, under the patronage of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, the show continues through October 15 at the five-star Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai. Although the trade will be invited to attend on all days, one day has been reserved for the general public to visit the exhibits.
