House of Voila wins Gold for Beijing Dream

The House of VOILA was honoured with the Gold prize by Tourbillon - a Swiss-German Magazine, for designing its masterpiece watch collection for the recent Beijing Olympics, entitled as "BEIJING DREAM".

The watch collection took inspiration from the new national stadium, referred to as the “Birds Nest”, for its architectural design. “The miniaturization of the Birds Nest was a delicate task”, claimed Khemlani. The design of this collection brought along with it new challenges at every step of its creation. Thru this collection I wanted to express what architectural engineers and watch technicians have in common, explains the Creative Director of VOILA.

The collection was conceived by Swiss Architects Herzog and De Meuron and inspired Roger Khemlani. It was presented at Baselworld 2008, at the Soirée de Superstars event - an evening marking the release of the Swiss Made Beijing Dream.

The award was noted in the Fall 2008 Issue No15 of the Tourbillon magazine, where it also mentioned the honours to other winners of the best designed Olympic inspired timepieces.
