Hong Kong’s precious metals jewellery exports rise 36%

Precious metal jewellery exports from Hong Kong increased 36 percent to $353 million in March 2010, reports say. The ‘domestic exports,’ or goods that stayed in the domestic market, increased 17 percent to $83 million, while re-exports of precious metal jewellery rose 27 percent to $270 million in March, reports say.

For the three months between January-March 2010, the said exports rose 29 percent to $885 million, reports add. During this period, domestic export increased by 34 percent to $195 million and re-exports by 27 percent to $690 million, reports say.

In March, the country’s import of precious metal jewellery increased 87 percent to $509 million, while between January-March it increased 53 percent to $1.3 billion, reports add.
