HRD Antwerp NV has confirmed its participation at the Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair (BGJF) scheduled between September 11-18, at the Impact Exhibition & Convention Centre, Bangkok. This is the 42nd edition of the BGJF. HRD Antwerp’s interest will be focused at exhibition and participation at the show’s educational programme.

A workshop entitled “HRD Antwerp diamond certificates: a blueprint for quality”, will be delivered by Dr. Katrien De Korte, a scientist in the organisation’s internationally renowned research division and a director of its educational programme, on September 11. “As Thailand is one of the world’s foremost cutting and trading centres for diamonds and coloured gemstones, we view the local jewellery market as a potential market for our services, and in particular our HRD Antwerp certificates”, states Dirk Dullaert, chief officer commercial operations at HRD Antwerp. Thailand recorded an export figure of gemstones at $371.3 million in 2007, 38.5 percent rise, when compared to the corresponding period a year earlier, and by 70.8 percent in during first five months of 2008 to $238.8 million.

The show is being organised by the Thai Gem & Jewellery Traders Association, with the intent to showcase Thailand’s position as a leading gemstone and jewellery centre in South East Asia.
