HRD Antwerp introduces Laboratory Grown Diamond Certificate

HRD Antwerp has introduced a certificate for laboratory grown diamonds. The new certificate referred to as - the Laboratory Grown Diamond Certificate has begun and will be available in Antwerp.

With laboratory grown diamonds growing in availability in the market, HRD Antwerp believes its new certificate service will enable it to defend consumer confidence – its major priority. The new laboratory grown diamond certification service is fully in line with HRD Antwerp’s policy to provide objective, consistent and reliable consumer information.

According to the laid procedure for the new service, HRD Antwerp tests every diamond to define whether it is natural; if found to be lab-grown, under disclosed condition, HRD Antwerp will issue a Laboratory Grown Diamond Certificate. In accordance with the IDC-rules, the HRD Antwerp Laboratory Grown Diamond Certificate looks different from the standard certificate and mentions the clear wording “Laboratory Grown Diamond Certificate” on the cover. Each laboratory grown diamond is clearly laser inscribed and the certificate bears mention of the laser inscription, including a reference number and statement that the diamond has been lab-grown. Each Laboratory Grown Diamond Certificate includes the same unique safety features as the standard HRD Antwerp diamond certificate such as a watermark, embossed logo, fluorescent marks, line structure and a micro text.

Serge Couvreur, CEO of HRD Antwerp, explains: "Today, laboratory grown diamonds are commonly traded at prices that are 30-60 percent lower in comparison to natural diamonds, which take millions of years to grow. We feel that it is important that consumers are properly informed about the origin of the diamonds they buy. HRD Antwerp’s Laboratory Grown Diamond Certificate provides an objective and independent analysis of the diamond.”
