HKTDC expects high participation at '2 Shows 2 Venues' in March 2014

The concept - “2 Shows 2 Venues” is being unfolded in March next year, featuring HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show. Both shows are expected to draw more than 3,500 exhibitors to showcase the world of finished jewellery, diamonds, precious gemstones and pearls under the two specialized platforms.

The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show is slated between March 5-9, 2014 with an offering of timeless, cutting edge, chic to luxurious, finished jewellery products. This segment will feature at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem and Pearl Show is slated between Mar 3-7 as a specialised trade platform for diamonds, loose gemstones and pearls in the AsiaWorld-Expo. The arrangement offers a wider scope of exhibits on display under streamlined setting to maximize the benefit of both exhibitors and buyers.

Participation at the show will include both previous regular participants and new entrants. As of now, the two shows are welcoming South Africa to form their pavilion the first time. Lorna Lloyd, CEO of the Jewellery Council of South Africa believes, by leverage on the new arrangement of 2 shows 2 venues, South African jewellery will shine even further among the best mix of global buyers, “Our National Pavilion will offer exclusivity, originality of design, prestigious quality and competitive pricing on high end product. It represents the riches and talents of our country, and our industry.”

Presence of the international group pavilions will see participation from Brazil, the Chinese mainland, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and the United States. Trade organisations pavilion like the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, the Israel Diamond Institute, the Israel Export & International Cooperation Institute, the International Colored Gemstone Association, the Japan Jewellery Association, the Japan Pearl Exporters’ Association, and the Platinum Guild International will also set up pavilion of its own at both shows.

The future of the Hong Kong jewellery industry comes alive through the 15th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition. The theme of this year is “Timeless Glow”, looking for designs that are able to embrace both the contemporary and classic, creating a timeless glow. The competition is divided into Open Group and Student Group. Winning pieces will be showcased at a special display in the fairground. Deadline for submission of entries is 16 September for Open Group and 23 September for Student Group.

Another design competition dedicated into gold jewellery, the biennial Chuk Kam Jewellery Design Competition 2014 will announce the results with final entries on display during the fair period. This year’s design concept is “Saluting to the Inclusive Era”, the pieces are sure to dazzle and inspire.
