Glimpz 2014, an annual exhibition of the graduating project by the students of the 8th Batch of Diploma in Jewellery Design & Manufacture Technology, of Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery, was inaugurated by Farah Khan Ali, ace jewellery designer.

The event was graced by Vasant Mehta, Chairman & Director of IIGJ; Namita Pandya, Convener, IIGJ Tardeo, Sanjay Kothari, Col S.K.Arora (Retd), Head of the Institute; Colin Shah, Managing Director, Kama Schachter Jewelry. The chief guest of the event was Farah Khan Ali, CEO/Creative Head, Farah Khan Fine Jewellery Pvt Ltd.

The Glimpz 2014 has on display the jewellery collections conceptualized and designed by individual students of the 8th batch of diploma course. This year’s collection revolves around the theme – Pratico (mean practical in Italian)-Lightweight jewellery. The wide assortments of jewellery designs have taken inspirations from nature, bollywood, night sky etc. The students have created not only trendy and classy designs but also cost effective pieces.

Farah Khan had a word of advice to give to the aspiring designers. She said, “I am just a student of life and I am still learning. You have to think out of the box which means doing things differently. Try and lose yourself to your environment. Open up your minds.”

The exhibition will remain open for the industry, students, media and general public from 24th to 27th June 2014, from 9 am to 4 pm.
