Ghana to sell a diamond mine

Ghana is considering selling a diamond mine, as part of its plans to sell state assets, reports say. It has identified to sell Ghana Consolidated Diamonds Ltd. located in the Eastern region town of Akwatia. The decision has been taken by the Divestiture Implementation Committee, which has determined the deadline for submitting bids as March 31, 2010, reports add.

The mining concession features 14 million carats of proven gem reserves, and it is estimated to have another around 4.6 million carats of reserves, reports say. It consists also of 240 square-kilometers of land, reports add.
