Gemrock, the leading colour gemstone mining company, is pleased to announce its inaugural ruby auction, to be held 3-7 October 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand, at the Crystal Ballroom, Holiday Inn Silom.

Gemrock will present a curation of rare, untreated rough rubies of highest provenance, in varying shades of red, ranging from dark red to pink, purple and orange, intense in colour and pristine in clarity. The auction will present 200 lots for sale and buyers from over 40 international companies are expected to attend the auction.

Buyers can rest assured of these high, gem-quality rubies, that are sourced and handpicked from the Montepuez mine, one of the world’s most sought-after ruby mines, renowned for its top class, large-sized rubies. In fact, it is from the large swathes of this belt, that some of the most prized rubies have emerged.

With an able team of experienced employees, Gemrock has managed to develop a stand-alone, successful mining operation in a remarkably short period of time. Gemrock currently holds nine concessions totalling over 589 square kilometres in the district covering significant sections of the ruby-bearing zone. By December 2021, Gemrock had recovered 52,000 mct of fine rubies from a number of bulk sampling pits, all of which are gem-quality rubies.

Mr. Rishabh Tongya, Chairman and Founder, Gemrock, commented:

“Building upon the strong buying momentum and market demand for Mozambican rubies, we are delighted to offer this inaugural auction at Gemrock, where attendees would be privy to an inventory filled with top-quality rubies. We remain confident that this auction will set a precedent for Gemrock in being able to bring to its patrons a steady supply of gem-quality rubies in the future as well, making us one of the leading suppliers of Rough Mozambican rubies globally.”

Mr. Chris Del Gatto, Co-Founder and CEO, Del Gatto Diamond Finance Fund, commented:

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Gemrock tenders. We are believers in this material for the coloured stone market, as well as Mr. Tongya's ability to execute. We are pleased to be able to play even a small part in making this happen."

Mr. Tim Denning of Bonas Group, commented:

“Bonas Group is pleased to be working with Gemrock on this exciting new ruby mining project in Mozambique.  This is another significant step for Bonas into the coloured gemstone industry."
