Gemesis initiates 'Fan Favorite' component to design competition

Gemesis – the world’s principal distributor of gem-quality synthetic diamonds announced the start of the “Fan Favorite” portion of its recently launched jewellery design competition in partnership with the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).

Students enrolled in FIT's Jewellery Design program have been challenged to create a "stylishly sustainable" engagement ring featuring Gemesis-grown diamonds.

In an effort to highlight creativity, and engage Gemesis' social media fan base, the brand is hosting the "Fan Favorite" contest, March 10- 21. Each design will be showcased on Gemesis' Facebook page, where the concept with the most votes will be named the "Fan Favorite." The winning student will also receive a $1,000 Gemesis award.

''This has been a valuable learning experience for our jewellery design majors, one that has exposed them to the emerging lab-grown diamond market by teaming up with Gemesis. They have worked diligently throughout the competition, and we’re excited to share their final designs with the public,” said FIT's jewellery design assistant professor, Kim Nelson.

In addition to the "Fan Favorite" component of the jewellery design competition, all design entries will be evaluated by a panel of industry judges on the basis of originality, effectiveness of design and interpretation of the "stylishly sustainable" theme. All winners - First Prize, Second Prize and Fan Favorite - will be announced in April.
