GSI set to get more proactive in India

Gemological Science International (GSI), a full-service gemological laboratory headquartered in New York City’s Diamond District, has appointed two senior executives to further lead its existing operations in India. In India, the lab has offices in Mumbai. Rahul R. Singh and Sanjay Ingole, have assumed their role of overseeing GSI’s expanding Indian operations and domestic sales with immediate effect.

“The Indian economies overall and the Indian jewelry industry in particular are tremendously resilient and growing quickly,” said Mark Gershburg, CEO of Gemological Science International. “We at GSI have been actively involved in the Indian diamond industry and its development. The addition of Mr. Singh and Mr. Ingole to our team will help us become even more proactive.”

Mr. Singh will head up Indian operations, looking into strategic planning, retail operations, business development, marketing, and supply chain management. Prior to this appointment, he held the position of head operations at SEPIA, a division of Texport Syndicate, for the past three years.

Mr. Ingole will assume a newly created position as GSI India sales in charge, and lend his experience of having worked in the Indian jewelry industry for the past eight years. Amongst his various work engagements, he served as area sales manager for Brightest Circle Jewellery Pvt. Ltd., a division of Gitanjali, looking into merchandising and design, development of marketing strategies, and exhibitions and promotional activities.
