GJEPC to host largest country pavilion at HK Jewellery & Gem Fair

That Hong Kong is a key market for India’s diamond and jewellery exports is expressed y the fact that a very large group of companies from India’s gem and jewellery sector will be participating at the India pavilion at the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair from 19th -25th Sept, 2011. ¬¬¬The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) will host the largest contingent from India amongst all Country Pavilions and at two locations, thereby increasing participants this year. There will be one pavilion at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) for Finished Jewellery, where over 50 Indian companies will participate. The second will be at the Asia World Expo (AWE) for Loose Diamonds ad Loose Gemstones where over 21 companies will take part, thereby resulting in highest representation by Indian jewelers.

“While the US still remains a large diamond jewellery consuming centre, there can be no doubt that India and China & HK are the centers of the future for the diamond industry on all fronts – be it manufacturing, trading or consuming. Already Hong Kong is a significant partner for India. In 2008-09, India’s highest exports of polished diamonds were to Hong Kong. In coming years I hope that this relationship between our countries strengthens and develops further through this platform.” said Mr. Rajiv Jain, Chairman, GJEPC speaking about the show. This large participation will be another of GJEPC’s endeavors to reinstate and simultaneously strengthen India’s leadership in the global gem and jewellery market as well as its significant participation in the country’s export earnings.
