GJEPC and India Trade Promotion Organisation sign MoU

Dignitaries and officials gathered at Shangri-La’s Eros Hotel on February 12, 2013, to attend the event where the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) announced its collaboration with the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to organize the First India Gem & Jewellery Fair (IGJF). Attending this occasion were Smt. Rita Menon, CMD, ITPO, Shri. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, Bollywood Diva & GJEPC Brand Ambassador, Ms. Sonam Kapoor, eminent members of the ITPO and GJEPC, other officials and dignitaries.

Besides the launch of this new collaboration, the logo and concept of the IGJF were also unveiled. The fair is targeted at the consumers, especially those in New Delhi and the northern region. It is GJEPC’s first foray into the Business to Consumer exhibitions. “Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council said, “Our main aim to collaborate with ITPO for the IGJF is to reach out to the consumer directly and allow them to view the extensive range of jewellery from across the country, while providing the Indian gem and jewellery industry the much needed impetus as they continue to face challenges with increasing prices of precious metals that have been prohibitive to businesses’ growth in recent times.”

According to the MOU signed both ITPO and GJEPC have agreed to host the exhibition for the next three years and plan to further scale it up on an international level. The first India Gems & Jewellery Fair (IGJF) from April 6-9th, 2013 at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The IGJF will include 150-200 leading retailers and jewellery brands

GJEPC also announced taking its signature event, the Indian International Jewellery Week 2013, to New Delhi for the first time, after organizing it in Mumbai for the last there years. The IIJW 2013 will be held from April 4th to 5th 2013. The shift in venue has been deliberated in order to provide jewellers of northern India with their own platform to showcase their design and manufacturing prowess.
