GIA’s Winter 2010 Distance Education Quarterly goes online

Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has launched its Winter 2010 Distance Education Quarterly on the internet, which informs about opportunities in distance education, GIA’s gemology education curriculum, lab classes offered at 12 worldwide campus locations and prestigious jewellery credentials.

“This issue of the Distance Education quarterly will help students learn how they can achieve their educational goals and satisfy their passion for beautiful jewellery, captivating coloured stones and diamonds,” says Susan Elliott, director of GIA Education Resources.

The content of the quarterly includes video demonstrations and sample assignments of GIA’s eLearning programme; a guide to earn a GIA professional credential, including Graduate Gemologist, Graduate Diamonds, Graduate Colored Stones, and Accredited Jewelry Professional. The eLearning students can learn how a diamond’s shape affects its value, the unique way opal is formed and key sapphire-producing regions in the world, through media and videos.
