GIA plans to host knowledge sharing discussions at the Singapore Jewellery & Gem Fair. Experts at GIA will present talks on diamond fluorescence and the characteristics of corundum and emerald on October 23 and 24.

Representatives from GIA in Thailand will also greet attendees at its booth P101, October 22 – 25.

A discussion entitled ‘The Allure of Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald’ will be held on October 23rd. Taking on from the time tested love that ruby, sapphire and emerald have enjoyed for thousands of years, GIA Instructor Pitchaya Lopiti will review the history, lore and inherent characteristics of rubies, exploring the factors contributing to their adoration and significance in the market.

Fluorescence in Diamonds is another discussion slated on October 24. Fluorescence in diamonds generates vivid discussion and has been the subject of much debate with regard to its effect on appearance and value. Claudia D’Andrea, GIA’s director of Thailand operations and education, will discuss the impact and effect of fluorescence by reviewing diamond quality factors and providing an overview of diamonds.

The presentations are free and open to the public, and will take place in the Seminar Room at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center in Singapore.
