GIA to open centre in Israel

GIA to open centre in Israel

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) plans opening a centre in Israel, considering it ‘among the world's most dynamic and innovative diamond centers’, as attributed by Donna Baker, president and CEO of GIA. The centre will deliver services of a laboratory, education and research based activities. The lab facility will provide providing on-site services, including GIA Diamond Grading Reports and Diamond Dossiers. There will also be educational seminars on diamond grading.

Moti Ganz, President of IDMA (International Diamond Manufacturers Association), chairman of the IDI (Israel Diamond Institute) and president of IsDMA (Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association) and and Donna Baker, president and CEO of GIA ( Gemological Institute of America) formally announced this initiative, which will open in the fourth quarter 2011.

Ganz added, "The Israeli Diamond Industry has established itself in a leadership position in the global trade. GIA will further strengthen this position by providing opportunities for our constituents to enhance their skill and knowledge base, which will expand our talent pool within the market." Baker noted, "We are very excited to support the trade on-site through our independent laboratory, education and research facilities. We are thankful to IDI and IsDMA for their invaluable support in entering this vibrant community.
