GIA to gift IDE with synthetic diamond technology

Gemological Institute of America (GIA) President Susan Jacques and her deputy Tom Moses will present the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) with its most advanced technological device for the identification of synthetic diamonds during a visit in February as a gift.

GIA says that the machine has a synthetic diamonds identification accuracy rate of 97 percent, while the remaining 3 percent of doubtful stones are classified by the device as “not clear”, and hence, should be sent to the laboratory for a further detailed inspection. IDE will be the first stock exchange in the world to receive an advanced machine like this. A special function will be organised to mark the handing over of the machine to the IDE’s Technology Division by Susan Jacques.
