GIA partnered with FICCI for 3rd Annual Gems and Jewellery Conference

Partnering with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for their 3rd Annual Gems and Jewellery Conference, the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) highlighted the importance of education and investment in education to drive growth for the Indian gem and jewellery industry. This initiative was well tuned to the focus of the conference which was to explore new and innovative financing options for the growth of the Indian Gems and Jewellery industry. The conference hosted stalwarts from the banking and finance alongside gems and jewellery experts.

Ms. Nirupa Bhatt, MD - GIA India & Middle East also conducted a session for the attendees on Importance of Education for Sustainability and Skill Development for the Gems and Jewellery industry. This interactive session put the spotlight on education as a means to drive consumer confidence in the individual businesses and industry as a whole. Ms. Bhatt said, “GIA has been working in India since 2004 to promote education in the gems and jewellery industry. With the advent of new technology and influx of synthetics, simulants and treatments, we believe full disclosure is critical to maintaining consumer trust. However without education and detection, disclosure is not possible. We are pleased to collaborate with FICCI to present GIA education as a growth enabler.”

The event took place at ITC, Grand Central, Mumbai. It was supported by the GJEPC and GJF.
