GIA lines up exotic gem and jewellery display for annual Fair

The Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) is organising its annual Jewelry Career Fair and Open House on October 16 in Carlsbad, California, reports state. The GIA has lined up a host of notable jewellery to be displayed at the Fair. One such display will be the Platinum Guild International’s “Aqua Collection’, including a diamond necklace named as ‘Shibuki’ (which means ‘splash’ in Japanese) and worn at the recent Emmy Awards by an actress. The necklace is made of 5.52 carats (cts.) of diamonds embedded in 158 grams of platinum. The GIA Fair is the only opportunity in the year to pay a visit to the GIA and its Museum without a pre-arranged appointment.

Also this year, there would be new additions tot he “Facets of GIA” exhibit, including 73 large, trilliant-cut gems in sizes between seven to 81 cts and are featured in varied colours, including tanzanite, emerald and aquamarine. These gems were mined from Brazil and Madagascar and other such exotic locales. A bracelet embedded with around 630 diamonds by Fulco Verdura, Pierre Sterlé designed diamond brooches, handcrafted, enameled jewellery and objets d’arts set in 18 karat gold by Larissa Podgoretz.

The Fair will in total exhibit over 130 pieces at the GIA Museum, including reading material. Also lined up are classroom demonstrations at this free-entry Fair. GIA’s Jewelry Career Fair and Open House was founded by GIA and The Jewelers 24 Karat Club of Southern California, which is also a sponsor.
