GIA announces opening panel for its NY Jewelry Career Fair

The GIA has organised an opening panel consisting of industry leaders who will discuss ‘Job Success in Today’s Market’, at the forthcoming GIA New York Jewelry Career Fair. The event is slated July 28 event at the Jacob Javits Center.

The panel will be moderated by Susan Jacques, president and CEO of GIA and will feature Mercedes Abramo, CEO of Cartier; Ashley Chan of Leslie Hindman Auctioneers; Andrea Hansen, partner of Luxe Intelligence and president of the Women’s Jewelry Association; Douglas K. Hucker, CEO of AGTA; and Steven Lagos, founder and chief creative director of LAGOS Jewelry. The panelists will share their journeys to success and offer practical advice for aspiring gem and jewelry professionals.

“GIA’s New York Jewelry Career Fair is a singular opportunity to hear from some of the most distinguished and successful luminaries in our industry right in the heart of one of the world’s leading gem and jewelry centers,” said Kathryn Kimmel, GIA vice president and chief marketing officer, and co-founder of the GIA Jewelry Career Fair.

Last year’s edition of the Fair, was a success with 44 gem and jewellery companies connecting with over 800 aspiring professionals.

“We encourage everyone with an interest in jewelry – whether you’re a seasoned pro, a newcomer to the trade or a jewelry lover – to come out and see firsthand how vast the opportunities in our industry really are,” Kathryn Kimmel satted. Aspiring jewelry professionals – including those in retail, design and manufacturing – will be able to meet with dozens of job recruiters and spend one-on-one time with volunteer career-coaches at the Fair this year.
