GIA Mini Jewelry Career Fair slated for Las Vegas

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has scheduled the second edition of the GIA Mini Jewelry Career Fair in Las Vegas on June 6, 2010, during the JCK Show, reports say. The Fair is termed as a Mini Fair as it is the condensed version of GIA’s popular career coaching and job search events being held for the past 19 years.

JCK Events is the sponsor of the GIA Mini Jewelry Career Fair this year. The agenda of the Fair includes an opening brief address by the Institute’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Donna Baker. She will also moderate the “Job Success in Today’s Market” panel, which includes Susan Jacques, president and CEO of Borsheim’s Fine Jewelry and Gifts; Martin Rapaport, president and CEO of The Rapaport Group; and Designer, Elizabeth Showers.

The Fair will also offer career coaching by notable industry leaders, who will interact with attendees in one-on-one sessions, offering tips for success in specialised categories including: design, career information, networking, resume review, and business start-up and entrepreneurship.

“With the economic recovery picking up steam, the luxury sector, which includes gems and jewellery, is poised for positive gains,” said Kathryn Kimmel, vice president, chief Marketing officer and founder of the GIA Jewelry Career Fair. “This career fair can help guide both first-time job seekers and professionals into rewarding and fascinating careers.”

The event is free and open to anyone in the industry.
