To help retail sales staff communicate with confidence and engage with consumers effectively, GIA India organised online training programmes for various retailers’ sales staff in June. More than 70 sales associates participated from eight retailers including Bengal Jewellery LLP, Kolkata; Durga Dass Seth Jewellers, Amritsar; Jewellers Madanlal Chhaganlal, Indore; Jojoubhai Dageenawala Jewellers, Surat; Mahesh Notandass Jewellers, Mumbai; Nagi Diamond Jewellers, Amritsar; Raj Jewellers, Meerut and Swarnganga Jewel Arts, Meerut. The training programme included information about GIA’s 4Cs (Color, Clarity, Cut and Carat Weight) of Diamond Quality – a framework for assessing a diamond’s overall rarity and value. It also provided an opportunity for the sales associates to interact freely with GIA representatives and enhance their insights.

“GIA India’s training programme for retail sales associates is devised to empower them with facts, help them engage with their patrons confidently and develop trust in the relationship,” said Apoorva Deshingkar, Sr. Director – Sales, GIA India. “This encourages consumers to visit again for frequent purchases. These training programmes are a complimentary initiative by GIA India in its mission to ensure public trust in gems and jewellery.”

“GIA India’s online training programme for our staff was extremely informative,” said Sreedip Roy, Partner, Bengal Jewellery. “The training gave us insights about diamonds and its quality parameters, helping our staff become confident sales associates.”

“Through the online retail sales associate training programme, GIA India has helped build our confidence to sell diamonds. The training was very beneficial to our staff as communicating accurately to consumers is very essential,” said Baljit Singh Nagi, Partner, Nagi Diamond Jewellers.

“We are grateful to GIA India for training our staff with an informative session on diamonds,” said Salim Daginawala, Owner, Jojoubhai Daginawala Jewellers. “Various aspects of diamonds and diamond grading were well-explained.”
“The COVID-19 situation poses unique challenges for retailers and their sales staff. Consumers continue to seek the level of transparency through virtual shopping similar to the in-store experience,” said Sriram Natarajan, Managing Director of GIA India. “GIA India continues to invest in retailers and their sales associates through these online training programmes and offer them the required knowledge as well as tools to help promote their store digitally, communicate with consumers effectively and ultimately help ensure public trust in gems and jewellery.”
