GGJF's second day concludes successfully

Exhibitors at the first Dubai Global Gem and Jewellery Fair (GGJF) concluded their day two with good business and new buyers showing interest. High profile visitors from Pakistan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Russia, Europe and the GCC countries were seen attending.

Classic diamond parures and single-line diamond necklaces and bracelets sold well, stated Darshil Mehta, executive director, Mohit Diamonds, Mumbai. “We were happy to meet new clients from Europe and Saudi Arabia.”

In general, buyers were looking for jewellery that had interesting design elements and were either classic or lightweight. Popular jewellery items included designer twin rings, necklace sets with illusion settings, broad gold cuffs with laser cuts, manchettes with various gold finishes, and hallmarked jadau jewellery. Priyanshu Shah, managing director, Asian Star Jewels, Mumbai, informed, “Jewellery pieces that looked opulent yet were cost effective moved well.” Anup Bohra, managing director of Jewels Emporium, Jaipur, found new buyers from Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Ukraine for his high-end three-dimensional masterpieces inspired by nature.

From the plain gold section, Pankaj Kodnani, owner of Krown Jewels mentioned his new collection Vida, especially crafted for the Middle Eastern aesthetics being highly appreciated. Haresh Pahuja of Itan Jewels who received good response from new buyers of China, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Malaysia, said; Right from designer fusion necklace sets to pendant sets, and bangles, cuffs and manchettes in all sizes and designs – we booked orders for everything.”

Shows of such stature are the need of the hour, most exhibitors noted. Amit Dhamani, CEO and managing director, Dhamani Jewels mentioned “This is one of the few shows in the region with a business-to-business format and according to me the GGJF has a bright future.”
