GEM Awards 2016: Nominees for Jewellery Design announced

The ‘Academy Awards’ of the jewellery industry is approaching fast and the preparation has already started in right earnest with the announcement of nominees for Jewellery Design.
The grand award ceremony is set to be hosted on 8th January, 2016 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. The annual award honours individuals and brands whose world raises the viability and status of fine jewellery.
Here is the list of nominees for the GEM Award for jewellery design:
Caroline Scheufele – As Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, Caroline Scheufele, devotes a great part of her energy and passion to creative design. In 1985, Scheufele introduced the “Happy Diamonds” jewellry collection, the first jewelry line of Chopard. Thanks to a bold and constant determination, she has succeeded in propelling the over-150-year-old house to the forefront of the Haute Joaillerie arena.
Sevan Bicakci – Born in Istanbul’s Samatya district, Sevan Bicakci credits his homeland as well as Mother Nature as his greatest muses. Unveiling his first collection in March 2002, Bicakci turns out one-of-a-kind jewels crafted from high-karat gold, sterling silver, rose or antique-cut diamonds, and a host of uniquely cut gemstones. The techniques he has pioneered include metal-based painting, engraving, calligraphy, intaglio carving (reverse gemstone carving) and micro-mosaic setting.
Temple St. Clair – Finding her passion for creative expression in gold and precious gemstones more than 30 years ago, Temple St. Clair founded her company in Florence, Italy. Barneys New York inaugurated their fine jewelry department with St. Clair’s first collection in 1986. Her fine jewelry collection is recognized for the signature brand elements of iconic rock crystal amulets, signature triple granulation and “archer’s” granule.
