The new achievement expands GCAL's ISO Scope
GCAL receives ISO Forensic Designation

Having passed its fifth annual ISO 17025 Audit in May 2012, Gem Certification & Assurance Lab, Inc. (GCAL™) expanded its ISO Scope in the field of Forensic Testing for Diamonds and Gemstone Analysis. Gem Certification & Assurance Lab, Inc. (GCAL) is an independent diamond, gemstone, and jewelry certification laboratory, located in New York City.

“Laboratory Accreditation Bureau (L-A-B) is proud to announce its first accreditation in the field of Forensic Testing for Diamonds and Gemstone Analysis. Gem Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL) achieved this accreditation to this benchmark program on May 24, 2012. The L-A-B Forensic Science Accreditation Program is based on Forensic Science Laboratory Accreditation requirements developed by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and builds on the stringent requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 for laboratories,” according to Jason Stine, testing program manager at Laboratory Accreditation Bureau.

ISO 17025 is certification of both management and technical requirements of a laboratory and requires rigorous annual testing by the certifying body; in this case, L-A-B (Laboratory Accreditation Bureau). “Laboratories are judged and reputed for their level of consistency, accuracy, and customer service. ISO 17025 Accreditation confirms our competence and dedication to Integrity and Excellence in the diamonds, gems, and jewelry certification business,” according to Angelo W. Palmieri, GCAL’s ISO Management Representative.

The GCAL Management and staff have built systems and procedures for accurate and consistent expert forensic services, culminating in additional ISO Scope Certifications. GCAL Experts have and continue to serve legal, insurance, government agency, and banking institutions to affirm or disclaim legal, financial, or scientific issues in dispute. GCAL’s founder has been called upon to provide forensic expert evidence in courts of law in Asia, North and South America, Europe, and throughout the United States in Federal, State, and Local Courts.

“As we embrace this new decade, GCAL will continue to expand its ISO accredited services to the global markets. Many of these markets demand and respect the ISO Laboratory Accreditation, and how it best serves the needs of the legitimate supply pipeline, as well as, discriminating consumers,” stated GCAL’s President, Donald A. Palmieri.
