The jewellery exemplifies inspiring expressions of 'Precious'
Forevermark Precious Collection™ was finally launched

In a press release, Diamond brand Forevermark announced the unveiling of the Forevermark Precious Collection™ in its worldwide debut at the Landmark Central, Hong Kong last night. Introducing The Forevermark Precious Collection™, Francois Delage, chief executive officer (CEO) of Forevermark, said, “Behind every Forevermark diamond is a precious story. Since the beginning of time, diamonds have inspired countless myths, tales and legends.

“In today’s world, this may be a story of personal celebration, love pledged, a commitment made, the arrival of a child into the world, an anniversary, enduring love or of a triumph at work. Whatever the story, it will always be one that is intensely personal and always unique — no two stories are the same — just as no two Forevermark diamonds are the same.” To celebrate and explore this symbiotic relationship between diamonds and stories, Forevermark invited a number of internationally renowned designers and authors to be inspired by 'precious.' The Forevermark Precious Collection™ showcases each individual’s personal interpretation of 'precious' whether in beautiful Forevermark diamonds or in words.

The Collection™ includes spectacular and meticulously crafted jewelry designs by the legendary supermodel Alek Wek, graphic designer Alan Chan, jewellery designer Bao Bao Wan, fashion designer Barney Cheng, jewellery designer Cindy Chao, artist and designer Jiang Qiong Er, fashion modernist Limi Yamamoto, Oscars jewellery designer Mona Mehta and couturier Tarun Tahiliani. These precious creations of Forevermark diamond jewelry by designers from East and West, some global names, others national treasures, reflect today’s cultural diversity and cross-fertilization of beliefs and customs.

In this way, they also represent the global aspiration of Forevermark, underlining the universal appeal and international language of the diamond, with its subtly different meanings and messages for each civilization, cultural group and individual. Accordingly, the designs vary widely from traditional cascades of diamonds and delicate Asian calligraphy to pop art and urban rock-chick styles. The Collection™ designers worked closely with the world’s leading craftsmen to create their designs, including a select group of master diamantaires who are among the few that are eligible to cut and polish Forevermark diamonds to release their full beauty and brilliance.

The Precious Stories are contributed by literary giants from as far afield as Texas and Taiwan, such as Alexander McCall Smith, creator of the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series — whose famous main character is, appropriately, named Precious Ramotswe — writer, academic and presenter Chang Man Chuan, award-winning author and poet Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Naoki prize winner Mariko Hayashi, illustrious travel writer Paul Theroux, bestselling novelist Philippa Gregory, influential and innovative writer Wang Anyi and pre-eminent and prolific writer Xi Xi.

As with the jewelry, each story is particularly individual and unique in the way in which it interprets 'precious.' Vastly different, all are liberally and enticingly scattered with references to diamonds. Some are clearly intended and direct, others are more subtle. There are stories inspired by precious people, feelings and relationships, but unexpected things also become precious in these stories, such as a Scottish farm, a self-built house in America, a cat with jewel-like eyes, a racoon and the advice of an elderly Indian woman.

The Forevermark Precious Collection Exhibition at the Landmark Central, Hong Kong invited the general public and is being held from 10 to 13 February, 2009, following which, it would be showcased at the annual Hong Kong Cancer Fund Gala Dinner at the ArtisTree on Saturday 14th February, 2009. It will then tour Beijing, China and Tokyo, Japan later this year.
