Dubai’s rough diamond imports up 11% in 2013

In 2013, Dubai’s rough diamond imports increased 11 percent (on y-o-y basis) in value terms to $5.116 billion, while in volume terms it touched 67.481 million carats, also a 11 percent rise on y-o-y basis, reports say. Per-carat price stood stable at $75.82.

Exports of rough diamonds in the year also surged. The volume of the said exports reached 68.266 million or an increase of 12 percent on y-o-y basis. This culminated into a value of $7.296 billion, or a 6 percent increase on y-o-y basis, reports add. The per-carat price was at $106.88, dropping 5 percent, reports suggest. Also, the net rough imports between 2012-2013, decreased 5 percent to $2.179 billion, reports add.
