Diamond World was the first publishing house that had highlighted the true problems a feature about the concerns of leading exhibitors. Even Diamond World had spoken to convener Nirav Bhansali two days ago but he did not provide a hint about adherence to the old floor plan and maintained that the new floor plan will be welcomed by exhibitors as it was for inclusive growth of the industry.
The major problem amongst the many was newly released floor plan in May 2014. The exhibitors had concerns regarding various functional and technical issues in regards to the new floor plan. Exhibitors from several sections, particularly Gold Jewellery and Loose Stones have expressed their inability to function in the recently expanded Multi Exhibitor Mezzanine booth configurations. So the National Exhibition Committee, for the reason stated above, has decided to defer the newly released floor plan for IIJS 2014. It has announced that IIJS 2014 will be now held on the basis of old floor plan of IIJS 2013.
Further, the committee has announced that though more than 99 per cent exhibitors of IIJS 2013 have renewed their participation during ROI stage, the few vacant booths will be allocated to the applicants who fall in the consecutive three years waitlisted category under lottery system. Exhibitors of IIJS 2013 may log on www.iijs.org and submit their online space application form between 21-31st May 2014 to retain their existing booth space and confirm participation. In case, any of the existing exhibitors wish to cancel their participation, may do so in writing to us on iijs@gjepcindia.com on or before 23 May 2014.
The change in decision has been welcomed by the entire industry. The trade on a whole is happy about committee's consideration to the apprehensions of the visitors.
