DTC Botswana to begin office

According to Antwerp Facets News Service, the Diamond Trading Company Botswana is ready to open its services on March 18 at Gaborone, reports the. The office will deliver sorting and aggregation facility. The inauguration will be at the hands of the outgoing Botswana President Festus Mogae.

The sorting business from the facility is targeted at 49 million carats of rough diamonds per annum, with employment strength of 600 Batswana. The investment in the facility was worth $73 million. Around 39 sorting machines have also been employed at a cost of $11 million.

Reports add that Botswana has licensed 16 polishing plants in order to receive their share of around $550 million worth of roughs a year, for processing, by 2010.
