DTC ‘Forever’ mark launched amidst much fanfare

In order to mark the diamond jubilee of Indian Independence, and 60th year of DTC slogan ‘A diamond is Forever’ DTC honored Mr Amitabh Bachchan, Forever Indian at the launch of diamonds inscribed with the Forever mark at the spectacular Taj land Ends, Bandra on January 23 2007.

On the occasion Mr Amitabh Bachchan, the Forever Indian, was presented with a plaque and 1 carat diamond inscribed with Forever mark.

The event started off with releasing of the Forever Mark diamonds and award ceremony of Mr Amitabh Bachchan, which saw Mr David Lamb, Miss Cherie Tandon Saldhana, Mr Amitabh Bachchan and Mr Mehul Choksi sharing the dais with ace actor Tom Alter comparing the event skillfully.

This was followed by a well organized fashion show and dinner which witnessed celebrities like Queenie Dhody, ad man Prahlad Kakkar to name a few.

Quite elated at receiving such an honor Mr Bachchan said, “Well it definitely is a proud moment for me to be honored with such an award by DTC.”

Speaking on the occasion David Lamb, worldwide marketing director, DTC said, “India is not only fastest growing market but also happens to be the birth place of diamonds. He Forever Indian is DTC’s tribute to India’s diamond jubilee of Independence. It is s small gesture from DTC to celebrate the contributions of Indians who like diamonds would live forever in the hearts of their countrymen. It is only fitting that our first awardee is India’s greatest star, Amitabh Bachchan.”

Also present on the occasion, Mr Mehuk hoksi, Chairman, Gitanjali group said, “As one of the sight holder partner in the Forever program, I am extremely honored that our brand ambassador Mr Amitabh Bachchan is the first recipient of this award.”

The Forever mark is s special symbol and identification number unique to each diamond and invisible to the naked eye. Inscribed on the table facet of each diamond, the Forever mark promises that each diamond has been specially selected and preciously cared for at every step of its journey from deep within.

In celebration of the occasion, Ms Cherie tendon Saldhana, Managing Director, Diamond Trading Company, said, “After the test launch in Hong Kong we are happy to announce the global launch of diamonds with Forever mark in India.”

To mark the global launch of Forever mark, in India, the ‘Tryst with Eternity Series 2007’ was also launched.

The moment has been captured for eternity with the imagination of four contemporary artists, Ganesh Haloi, Manu Parekh, Prabhakar Kolte and Yusuf Arakkal.

The tryst with destiny 2007 series would be auctioned on February 6th at Indigo, Mumbai.

Part of the proceeds will be donated to an NGO called ‘Laadli’, dedicated to the cause of a girl child.

DTC and its SH partners will seek to honor India’s finest diamonds, honoring them as Forever Diamonds. The Forever Indian Personality who during his/her lifetime has left an indelible mark upon the culture, ethos, character and people of India

This could be through their thoughts, words, deeds or involvement. The Forever Indian will be selected by telephonic consumer poll and honored for his contribution in making India shine.
