DIAMCOR UNEARTHS ITS FIRST LARGE DIAMOND WEIGHING 91.65-CARAT

Diamcor found its very first stone weighing 91.65 carats, which is approximately nine times more than the usual first gem-quality 'special' 10.8 carat diamonds. The diamond company removed this precious diamond from the ground of Krone-Edora at the Venetia project in the Limpopo province of South Africa.

Located five hundred kilometers northeast of Johannesburg, Venetia is the largest diamond producing project in South Africa and the third-largest in the world. Half of the diamonds extracted in South Africa annually are taken from the Venetia project. Diamond giant De Beers operates a mine there, adjacent to Diamcor's Krone-Endora site.

Diamcor president and chief executive officer Dean Taylor expressed excitement over what he called the near-perfect octahedron shape of the large stone, calling it extremely rare, especially for stones of that size, according to a leading newspaper.
