The Christie’s sale in Hong Kong to take place on May 28, will place a 101.27 diamond on auction. This is the largest colourless stone ever to have appeared in an auction since the last 18 years. The auction price is expected to be more than $6 million. The diamond is a cut stone from a 460 carat rough which has been certified by the Gemological Institute of America. It is a ‘F’ colour stone, with VVS1 clarity and ‘excellent’ grading for its polish and symmetry.

The winning bidder will have the rights to name the diamond as desired. Christie’s has so far sold only three colourless diamonds above 100 carats have been auctioned, all sold in Geneva. The diamond was unveiled during Christie’s Spring Masterpieces Exhibition held in February.
